In an era where technology advances at a relentless pace, being original is no longer just a creative choice, it is essential for surviving an increasingly competitive industry. I firmly believe that art is fundamentally defined by the human touch, loaded with feeling, intentionality, and moral manners. If we strip these human elements away from artistic work, art loses its spirit and ceases to hold any real value. This is why I stand unequivocally against purely generative artificial intelligence when it is used to manufacture art out of thin air. Relying entirely on generative models adds zero authentic value to a creative piece. However, ignoring technology completely is equally dangerous; refusing to adapt will inevitably leave an artist behind and kick them out of the competition. The true path forward lies in an equilibrium, recognizing that while technology and human intellect should evolve together to make us sharper and faster, we must strictly draw the line at protecting human creativity.
For my own body of work, there is no artificial intelligence inherently embedded in the artistic creation itself. Instead, I treat artificial intelligence strictly as an assistant, a tool to streamline my workflow and handle technical hurdles where I need support, without letting it take the driver's seat. Computer machines and machine learning algorithms have always been developed by humans to assist us, long before the recent hype around AI. In my process, I leverage machine learning to accelerate technical execution: I have used it to upscale images so my visual assets maintain a consistent resolution across the board, and I see huge potential for machine learning as a helper in complex pipelines like rigging, animation, and texturing. Similarly, when building this website, I wrote my own code, but utilized machine learning to help generate and refine code snippets. For the written content, I wrote my thoughts first and used machine learning purely as a tool to polish and rewrite the phrasing in a clearer way. At no point does artificial intelligence control what I express; it remains a functional implement that enhances my efficiency without diluting my personal voice.
Looking ahead, there is no doubt that the movie and entertainment industries will be profoundly shaped and disrupted by artificial intelligence. As generative content continues to flood the market, professional human craftsmanship will actually become significantly more valuable, not less. I am fully determined to maintain my spot in the industry, whether that requires deepening my technical understanding of machine learning tools or further refining my personal artistic craft. Ultimately, the future will split the audience: viewers who possess genuine values, manners, and a clear understanding of the risks posed by generative artificial intelligence will remain skeptical and seek out authentic, human-made work. Those who lack a deep appreciation for humanity will consume mindless, low-effort generated content without a second thought. By keeping humanity at the center of technology, we ensure that true art retains its dignity and purpose.
When it comes to the usage of my own artwork, I strictly forbid and prohibit my work from being used, scraped, or ingested to train any form of artificial intelligence, particularly generative artificial intelligence models.
On the contrary, I am more than happy to allow fellow humans and emerging artists to study, learn from, and draw inspiration from my work to aid their creative journeys, provided they ask for explicit permission first. This reflects my own creative process: when I craft my art, I frequently draw inspiration and utilize references from artists who come before me, always seeking their permission before recreating their ideas or taking it as the main reference for my work.
